LLoyds Underwriting Room

LLoyds Underwriting Room, originally uploaded by Wolfgang Haak.

Sparkling steel, pipes and plenty of caustic lighting effects from the nearby Willis Building. I think it’s still a corker.

Lloyds Buildings, City of London

by splash on August 7, 2010

A tonemapped HDR panorama of the Lloyds buildings. It was a muggy moody day, (3y’s!) so I thought B/W would bring out the contrast best. What do you think? – Nodal Ninja, PTGUI using a Mercator Projection to retain decent proportions on a 2-point perspective.

Panorama Garages II

June 6, 2010

Panorama Garages, originally uploaded by Wolfgang Haak. Empty buildings however do something else. They tell us how people lived there. It does not matter if archaeologists unearth the remnants of century old houses or you stumble across an empty courtyard in the midst of a city, the clues that build the picture of life must [...]

Panorama Garages I

June 6, 2010

Panorama Garages, originally uploaded by Wolfgang Haak. These derelict places. I like them, I’m attracted to them. There is something beautiful and peaceful about human habitat that is no longer lived in. As my eye looks around the scene I try to imagine the the reason and story that is behind it, be it mundane [...]

Post work pub life in Clerkenwell

May 23, 2010

CL-I_MG_1005 Panorama_ldr_tm.jpg, originally uploaded by Wolfgang Haak. Clerkenwell is the design hub of London. Architects, Interior Designers, Fashion, Photography – heck all sorts flock here to work. And the place has loads of old character and charm. Here’s one of my favourites, Clerkenwell Green, on one of the first warm evenings of 2010. Enjoy!

Barbican in the Summer Sun

May 13, 2010

Barbican in the Summer Sun, originally uploaded by Wolfgang Haak. Architects love the word juxtapositon, and it doesn’t get much more textbook than that. Repetitive angualr detail of the precast concrete elements that make up the residential towers of the Barbican Centre vs the countless shades and shapes of tree lit by the later afternoon [...]

St.Paul’s Cathedral at Night

May 13, 2010

St.Paul’s Cathedral at Night, originally uploaded by Wolfgang Haak. Lovely Shot of St. Paul’s Catherdal at night. The Motion Blur of the bus adds a welcome variation in colour without distracting from the recelty cleaned stone facade. And skies at night don’t come much bluer than that.

Thumbnail image for Tip of the day: Photoshop Brush

Here’s my tip of the day for using photoshop brushes: Have a look at the Photoshop CS Brush Dialogue. You can get it up on screen by using the short cut key F5. A lot of people know (and have written) about the Shape Dynamics, Scattering, Color Dynamics etc. functions. And they are really cool! [...]

Ticket Design – 40 years Clidive

September 2, 2009

My dive club’s 40th anniversary is coming up and they asked around what everyone could do to help prepare the fest. I couldn’t foresee how computer graphics could contribute to a scuba club anniversary, but it turns out they wanted some fly invites. It’s the 40th anniversary, and with past and present members invited with [...]

preparing images for web-use

Thumbnail image for preparing images for web-use July 12, 2009

sRGB, settings and do’s and why’s I’ve spend a lot of time recently explaining to people what a colour space is, why it is important and how to use them. Why? It seems to confuse the hell out of people, because sources such as wikipedia or the plethora of tutorials out there forget to mention [...]
